You are the sun, and the moon, and the world
in one thin package.
Afraid to hold you, for you might break.
Afraid to let you slip away, for you might never come back.  

Your happy Christmas eyes
Bright bloodshot against emerald green
The prettiest green I’ve ever seen.

Why must you do it so clearly?
For the eyes tell all you know.
Stop covering them up
with your smoky addiction.

Black hair against translucent skin
What would we see if we held you up to the light?
That you haven’t eaten for three days?
you’re proud and yet so sad.

So delicate and numb
I wait for your gaze   
To briefly meet mine,
To know we are ok.

I frown at you as you walk past
but you do not see.
Where we just friends that just fell apart?

Your grassy-green eyes,
How they look upon the world with such distaste

You shake up the world
and leave me with nothing
Can we say it’s over?
You must not miss me.
